If You Do Nothing, Nothing Will Happen

So many Executives and Managers today literally do nothing to foster teamwork or build camaraderie. They simply go to work every day, they do not care about creating an "Attitude of Gratitude" or increasing the "Happiness Factor".  They do worry about performance, productivity and profitability, but are perplexed as to what to do about it.  They fail to realize that they are operating under a concept of "doing what they've always done,"  and in doing so, "they're getting what they've always got."

At the same time, they are asking themselves why they are losing their top talent.  There are many reason that they are, ranging from (but not limited to) a poor or outdated performance review process, poor or lack of a career pathing process, lack of employee and team recognition and apathy toward top performing teams and individuals.

While worried about retaining their top performers, Executives and Managers are also challenged with how to improve morale, increase productivity and ultimately produce greatness.

Whether it be sports or in the world of work, greatness comes from great teams.  Individuals do not make successful or great teams as they are only cogs in the wheel or pieces of the puzzle.  The Packers are not great only because of Aaron Rodgers or the Lakers great only because of Kobe Bryant nor is Apple great only because of Steve Jobs.

What all great organizations have in common are a series of great inner / small teams.  These teams work together to produce greatness.

As a Manager or an Executive you should ask yourself what you do to drive or recognize greatness.  If you are doing nothing, than nothing will happen.
